Anodising Aluminium: Now a Growing Trend among High-End Smartphones

Gone are the days when majority of the phones produced in the market are made of plastic or of similar materials: now, with more people looking for sophistication in their smartphones, manufacturers are utilising metals, specifically aluminium that underwent professional anodising, for their products. It began with Apple’s iPhones, followed by HTC, Samsung, and Nokia smartphones, and with the potential of anodised aluminium fully realised, it won’t be long before metal phones dominate the mobile manufacturing industry. Metal in Smartphones Last year saw an increase of phone models utilising metals in their designs, from the Galaxy Note 4 from Samsung to the acclaimed HTC One M8, all boasting metallic and shiny looks. If Ben Wood, director of research from CCS Insight, is to be believed in, metal is now a “de facto element of any flagship smartphone. If you have a premium smartphone range metal is mandatory.”
